EVENT 3: Artisan Independent Experimental (AIX) Scent Fair at Hammer

Date: May 8, 2016

Neandertal Perfume is inspired by the history of Neandertal who mysteriously disappeared from earth around 30,000 years ago. Neandertals are often thought to be wild animal like beings, less intelligent than humans, however recent findings reveal that they were highly intelligent, creating art and music prior to humans, while living in Europe 10 times longer than us. Neandertals mysteriously disappearing from earth around 30,000 years ago. Neandertal perfume is designed for the contemporary Neandertals. It reflects their life in the past as well as their sophisticated future, which they could not see themselves.

Dasein's WINTER unisex fragrance aims to evoke the soul of the winter season--the transition of making your way through cold forest night air into a haven of warmth and merriment with friends. SPRING evokes a sunny spring morning, with a gentle breeze carrying the scent of wet earth, budding flowers and green things to your nose. SUMMER is sunshine and cocktails at the ultimate summer pool party.  With notes of cilantro, grapefruit, grass, jasmine, and orange blossom, SUMMER is a light, bright celebration of the funnest season. AUTUMN features notes of agarwood, incense, amber, cedar, coffee and cinnamon bark.  It is the ultimate coziness. Worn well with cashmere and silk.

Parfums Jazmin Saraï is a collection of perfumes inspired by songs. The intention is to connect two invisible mediums that illicit raw emotions within a person, embracing the multiplicity of the senses. This helps one engage with oneself and with others through a change in perception. Illuminating the power of music as well the effect of the sense of smell on our subconscious, this is a new chance to experience scents, new genres of music as well as delving into synesthesia (the merging of the senses).
(Also proof of attendance)
The scent fair is easily the best event I have attended this quarter. Browsing through highly conceptual—even unexpected—scents, I learned a lot about different artistic concepts that can go behind the design of a perfume. I would definitely recommend this event to other people.
